Electronic notarization is the performance of a notarial act using electronic documents, electronic signatures, identity verification, electronic records, and the prescribed electronic notarization procedures.

What is the difference between IEN and REN?

IEN (In-Person Electronic Notarization) is performed with the participants physically present before the ENP, while REN (Remote Electronic Notarization) allows the notarization session to be conducted remotely through a secure electronic platform, subject to the rules and requirements.

How do I get a document notarized through NotarioPH by Qlegal?

Create or sign in to your NotarioPH by Qlegal account, upload your document, select IEN or REN, submit your request, and complete the required verification and payment steps. Your assigned or selected ENP will review the request and conduct the notarization session.

What file size can I upload?

You can upload PDF documents of up to 25 MB.

What documents can be electronically notarized?

Documents may be electronically notarized when they are eligible under Philippine laws, Supreme Court rules, and the requirements of the ENP. The ENP will determine whether a document is suitable for electronic notarization.

Do I need to be physically present for electronic notarization?

Not necessarily. REN allows qualified participants to complete the notarization session remotely, while IEN requires physical presence before the ENP.

Can witnesses join the notarization session remotely?

Yes. Witnesses may join the notarization session remotely, complete the required identity verification, and electronically sign the document, subject to the Supreme Court rules and the ENP's requirements.

Processing time depends on the document, verification requirements, ENP availability, and completeness of the submission. Many straightforward transactions can be completed in minutes once all requirements are satisfied.

Can I reschedule my notarization session? (Clients)

Yes. Subject to the ENP's availability and scheduling policies, you may request to reschedule your session through NotarioPH by Qlegal.

Can I notarize documents from outside the Philippines?

Only in a limited case. Under the Supreme Court Rules on Electronic Notarization (A.M. No. 24-10-14-SC), remote electronic notarization for a principal abroad is allowed only when the ENP is in the Philippines and the principal is physically inside a Philippine embassy, consular office, or Honorary Consul office during the notarial act.

During the session, the ENP has the principal pan the video, and a designated officer of the post confirms the principal's presence.
